Description: If ever a piece of jewellery looked good enough to eat! This little thing is almost rude the way it protrudes! These so called négligée (négligé?) pendants are very typical of their period and were all the rage for a few short years. This one is unusual and always admired and its looks very timeless and contemporary.
Age: c1915 coming out of Edwardian, through la belle epoque and into early Art Deco
Size and weight: 8.7g. The open length is around 17.5" and then the drop is around 5.5cm to bottom of the lowest rose quartz.
Materials: Rose quartz, the frame is 12ct gold, the chain is 15ct so the chain is likely a later replacement. Its not super rare to find 12ct gold in much older pieces (although its almost never hallmarked) but it is unusual of a piece undoubtedly dating from the early 20th Century. Perhaps this gives a clue to which country it was made in...
Condition: Very good, the stones have some natural flaws and variation within them as quartz does but there are no chips or damage. As stated, chain likely to be later (but still antique replacement)
