Description: Very interesting pendant in what we assume to be its associated Dibdin & Co, Sloane street box. We've not been able to find out anything about Mrs Irving but there is plenty online about Lady Smith-Dorrien - you can read about her and her bag fund here - Olive Smith-Dorrien - Wikipedia
Age: c1915 - this is the year the bag fund was started and its likely that Mrs Irving helped out in starting it up. Certainly we'd have put the pendant at between about 1905 and 1915 stylistically.
Size and weight: 4,1g Chain approx 17" pendant is 2.5cm across.
Materials: 15ct gold, seed pearl, amethyst (almost certainly Siberian given the wonderful purple colour saturation), tooled leather box.
Condition: Excellent. There are some numbers incised on the back, eg L2879 which may be a pattern or stock number (could even be "L" for Liberty...we say in hope rather than expectation!)
