Description: Fabulous little locket, very tactile, very beautiful and very old! Great enamel work, lovely hand chased engraving, condition is great. Oh and diamonds too!
Age: Late Georgian / Early Victorian, the cut of the stones is primitive and the chasing isn't quite as fine as later examples and it has an early feel to it. Impossible to say the age for sure as earlier cuts of diamonds were used and re-used later on.
Size and weight: 7.2g. 3.8cm to top of bail x 2.3cm wide
Materials: 18ct Gold, Old single cut diamonds, all included to a degree but nice and sparkly. Enamel.
Condition: Very good. Enamel generally in tact with just microscopic nibbles. A little wear to the gold bail as to be expected as this seems original. No glass present. Closes shut nicely and securely but with no click so that its not going to open during use, the 2 sides are just held together with friction.
