Description: A lovely addition to any antique cameo collection. A twist on the classic lady's face portrait, very unusually our subject here is sporting her hair up in an almost medieval or Queen Elizabeth I style with hairnet, drop earrings and pearl. Hairnets were also popular in the early 19th century...Or is she a 1920s Art Deco flapper girl!? Our best guess is somewhere in the middle, Victorian especially given the ornate gold frame. We're finding it hard to decide so we'd welcome your best guesses! As a nice touch, the frame has a small curved hook at the bottom to attach a drop.
Age: ? You tell us! Our best guess is Victorian c1880
Size and weight: 17.2g. 5.4cm x 5cm.
Materials: High carat gold (not yet X-ray tested, to follow) shell, 9ct gold pin.
Condition: Very good, few slight stress cracks to the cameo bottom right and left but hardly visible.
