Description: A cracking and unusually large example of an Egyptian revival beetle brooch. He has a definite Russian feel about him and is certainly influenced by Faberge.

Age: There have been a few Egyptian revival periods, this one is likely mid to late 19th century, we don't think its 1920s King Tut discovery period.

Size and weight: 8.85g, approx 3.5cm x 1.7cm

Materials: Metal awaiting testing, catseye stone, likely a type of green quartz rather than the more expensive chrysoberyl cats eye - its throwing off a lovely, crisp cats eye in bright light. Pearl (not a faux pearl, most likely cultured, possibly replacement, in pristine condition), seed pearls, ruby eyes. Actual pin is base metal, main body is gold with a higher carat gold wash.

Condition: Excellent.
