Description: A fabulous arts and crafts brooch, it has such strong "handwriting" design wise and can almost certainly be attributed to someone good but we're struggling to put a definite name to it. There are strong H.G Murphy vibes and he's our best guess at present but the little heart shaped leaves if anything are a bit too good here. Artificers guild and possibly Edward Spencer is a possibility but again the leaves don't look quite right and the same with Amy Sandheim, with respect to her, the craftsmanship is better on this. Finally compare Arthur and Georgie Gaskin - they used these type of pearls a lot, often centrally and with the rope twist border seen here.
Anyway, we don't like to attribute arts and crafts pieces without being sure as to who made them. There is a lot of mis-attribution out there and it can be infectious which spoils things somewhat!
The garnets are particularly nice and juicy and cut into pointy little cabochons. A really striking and well made piece.
