Description: A really fabulous crucifix with some of the crispest casting you'll see, beautiful quality, the winged Putto section majestic above the main body of the cross - a real wow piece!
Age: This has stumped us a bit! It is in the antique French taste and has a definite 18th century Rococo style to it. The casting is so crisp and clean that we believe it to be later, we're not on this occasion happy to put a precise date to it - let us know what you think!
Size and weight: Substantial feeling 27.05g. 9cm top to bottom, 4.5cm at widest part
Materials: Silver and silver gilt, turquoise and paste. The section around the turquoise may be solid gold rather than gilt but we don't want to risk testing with acid so this is awaiting an x ray test, so assume for now all silver gilt.
Condition: Superb, a tiny bit of the gilding worn to the back but that's being very picky.
