Description: Eternally popular, this is a very good example. Usually these get turned into pendants but this one is just a nice size for a brooch and looks great on any lapel, just the right amount understated! We like the aesthetic on these type of crescents where they're just shy of a full circle, something very satisfying about them!

Age: c1910 (the use of platinum on the setting tells us that this must be early 20th century rather than Victorian but the old cut stones were likely mined and cut earlier.)

Size and weight: 23mm across. 3.2g.

Materials: Gold (high carat, not yet x ray tested for exact fineness - to follow), platinum, old cut diamonds. Comfortably over a carat, the stones are beautiful quality, very white, bright and sparkly with no inclusions visible to the naked eye. The larger stones are the best, the very small ones are slightly included when viewed under 10x.

Condition: Very good. Double securing clasp works well. There is a small screw fitting to the interior suggesting this may have been part of a parure or set with parts to concert to a pendant or more likely hairpiece.
