Georgian Gold Intaglio Chalcedony Carved Face Hardstone Fob Seal

Description: Lovely old fob with a really interesting carved intaglio seal. The chap with his flowing locks looks very familiar and we think he's a historical figure rather than a portrait - we're working on identifying him!

Age: c1820

Size and weight: 6.06g face 1.5cm x 1.8cn pendant 2.5cm

Materials: Chalcedony intaglio, 9ct gold. Most of these tend to be gold cased, this one we feel is solid gold and the top loop appears to be contemporary to the piece and a colour match, this is marked for 9ct.

Condition: Good antique condition. It looks as though the top has worn through and there's an antique repair with a little lead solder showing. Its not obvious when worn but it is definitely there.
