Description: A very good example of giardinetto or giardinetti "little garden" brooch. A real statement piece! Lots going on with all sorts of colourful, natural, sparkly gems - it's a big, glamorous piece.
Age: Early to mid 20th Century, probably 1920s
Size and weight: A hefty 28.8g so suitable for a coat or thicker material. 4.8cm wide x 4.5cm tall. Bear in mind this contains over £1500/$1700 just in precious metal plus all the gemstones.
Materials: White and yellow 18ct gold, Natural diamonds, sapphires, ruby, emeralds - the big 4! The stones are all very nice quality and would be hard to source these days. We've not attempted to calculate the carat weights!
Condition: Very good, one of the strands on the basket is a little damaged, near the middle at 9 o clock, its a very small blemish on an otherwise perfect piece. Currently has a safety chain to be worn behind and not seen which is a mix of metals.
