Description: A beautiful and rare pair of antique gold earrings. They're solid and exceptionally well made and even though they're around 150 years old they look very contemporary. We thought these had a very strong Castellani look but as they are apparently unmarked we didn't feel confident to attribute them, so we'd usually list them as Etruscan revival, in the style of Fortunato Pia Castellani. However, when researching we found some at a highly respected London dealers that are an absolute exact match for these (see the last pictures, the left and right elements are the same - thanks to maxmichelson.com and to Geoffrey Munn's authoritative text on the Victorian revivalist jewellers). Castellani is an absolute rock star name when it comes to jewellery and his work is very hard to find outside of museums (the v and a in London has some wonderful pieces of his)

Age: c1860-70

Size and weight: 2.72g total weight, 3cm drop but not including post 3.5cm from top of hook

Materials: High carat gold, exact fineness tbc.

Condition: Excellent, it's possible the hooks are later but we've no reason to think they are.
