Description: Suffragette jewellery - if there is such a thing (this is much debated in jewellery circles, some say it was a thing, some say it is a later confection!) features the colours of the suffragist movement. These are certainly of the right period and its nice to imagine that they were worn as a quiet show of solidarity with the movement. We think that on balance, jewellery was made in the colours of the suffragists accidentally or purposefully a lot during the period and purple, green and white were often worn to show support but its likely that the "GWV" association of words and colours - Give (Green) Women (White) Votes (Violet) was made up later. Anyway, these are a beautiful and wearable pair of solid gold antique earrings from the suffragette period in associated colours in lovely condition!
