Description: Lockets are always popular so we always try to have some nice ones in stock. This one, is pretty but kind of un exceptional from the outside, what really made us want to own it is the gorgeous little work of art inside! Its really something, tiny, tiny pieces of grass and leaves have been painstakingly cut and arranged into a bouquet with a band of seed pearls tying it all together in the middle. We've never seen this before, very often you get woven human hair designs but this is a first for us!

Age:  c1860 Victorian

Size and weight: 9.15g , 3.5cm including bale but not top ring x 2.6cm wide

Materials: 9ct gold (some of the body is metal and the top ring is gold plate), grass, seeds, pearls, glass

Condition: Good antique condition. The gold has worn through in one tiny area to the reverse where it has worn against the skin - its god rather than rolled gold or gold plate so there is no base metal underneath. This would usually be very easy to put right but here it would mean taking out the glass and the flower arrangement to get to the little whole and fill it with gold solder. We've let sleeping dogs lie as its not very noticeable. The top jump ring is just gold plate and this has worn over the years and is now a different colour to the locket, we can supply another, gold jump ring should you wish to freshen this up!
