Description: A bit of a showstopper! Very plain and simple which is the best way to go with something like this as the stone does all the talking. It's a gorgeous colour - as a rule of thumb the bluer the stone the more valuable, this one is drawing a little green (pic next to another, bluer aqua for comparison, that ring is available too incidentally) so that make this one more affordable. Having said that, personally, we prefer the colour of this one. All down to personal taste! Interesting fact - Aquamarine is one of the types of gemstones that can produce large specimen type stones with good colour and clarity, not frequently but certainly you can find them. For this reason, aquas do not tend to go up exponentially in price as the size goes up (as with diamonds etc). Anyway, we're talking ourselves down here! Its a fab thing for lovers of gemstones and/or statement jewellery.
Age: Mid to Late 20th Century
Size and weight: 22.6g total. Aquamarine is approx 35 x 26mm, 89 carats +/- 3 carats which means around 5g of gold which checks out if aqua is 89 carats.
Materials: Aquamarine (and some more aquamarine), gold (acid tested in 14ct range, not x-ray tested yet but guaranteed minimum 14ct)
Condition: Very good, tiny, tiny scratch on one of the facets at 11 o clock which is not noticeable. Some faint natural inclusions internally, nothing that can be seen easily and does not detract in any way.
