Description: A very striking and festive Christmas brooch! It can also be worn on a chain and is absolutely beautiful in both design and construction, it has a real Faberge look about it with the wonderfully hand-carved nephrite leaves and those little moonstone balls positively glowing! We'd love to work out who the maker is but the marks are only partially struck and very hard to read (white gold is rhodium plated and this has further taken away some definition) - there appears to be at least one assay/fineness mark and a makers mark, it has a European type sliding closure and may well be Russian or perhaps Austrian - some further research may be rewarded!
Age: Early to mid 20th century
Size and weight: 15.02g, leaves 5cm wide, length of whole item 6cm
Materials: Nephrite Jade, Moonstone, Diamond, White Gold (fineness not tested precisely but minimum 14ct), Rhodium plating. Box is later, a little average but has protected the brooch well and can be included in the sale.
Condition: Excellent
