Description: We can be fairly confident this is by English arts and crafts artisan Rhoda Wager who later emigrated to Australia. You can see why she selected the opal for this piece - its like staring into some sort of crazy alternate universe, so beautiful with a blue green background and wide flashes of pink and red!
Age: Wager moved to Australia in 1920 so its presumed that this was made after then as opals would have been openly available in Sydney where she lived. Having said this, opals were also available in the UK and were used by most of the arts and crafts jewellers and she trained and made jewellery in the UK so it could be earlier.
Size and weight: 9.66g , 15.5cm, opal 1.3cm x 1.8cm
Materials: Silver, opal doublet (a slice of opal is backed onto glass or something similar), the actual bracelet part appears to be a later replacement and appears to be made of steel.
Condition: Very good but please note that the actual bracelet part is not original, silver section with opal is in very good antique condition.
