Description: A nice antique, heading towards Georgian aesthetic here; the date letter "O" could be for any number of years as many look quite similar, however, whilst the shank and the setting have a very Georgian feel, 15ct was not used as a standard at the assay office back then and also opals didn't really appear on the scene until later in the Victorian period.

Age:  Birmingham hallmarks for 1863

Size and weight: 1.79g size 7.5 P

Materials: 15ct gold (hallmarked) opal, green stones (too small to test, possibly demantoid garnets, possibly paste). The opals do not have a great deal of fire and they are more of a pleasing white with the odd flash of colour, so not great opals. Overall though, the aesthetic is very nice. And we've made the price very buyable!

Condition: Good antique condition, one opal is chipped on one edge (completely unnoticeable to the naked eye) There are some tiny abrasions to the unidentified green stones.
