Large Heavy High Carat Gold Carnelian Engraved Intaglio Fob

Description:  This fob is in remarkably good condition and is a cut above the usual. Its very hard to say exactly how much actual gold is in these and they are invariably "gold cased" and when you look closely you can see metal poking out from under a thin layer of gold. But not here! this one appears to be solid gold and where there are slight signs of wear only gold can be seen. Its been personalised with 3 initials in fancy script and these are hard to make out. 

Age:  These fairly plain fobs are usually described as Georgian - this may well be but its the sort of thing that without lots of distinguishing features is hard to pin down. Certainly no later than mid Victorian but could be as early as 1810. 

Size and weight: 10.96g , height not inc ring 3cm, stone 1.6cm x 1.4cm 

Materials: High carat gold (fineness tbc, c18ct), carnelian intaglio.

Condition: Excellent condition for an antique fob, very little wear even at the top where the bale is attached so its probably sat in a drawer for over a century!
