Description: Marius Hammer was a Norwegian contemporary of Faberge and his workshop is famed for exquisite enamelling. We have attributed this but as with most antique pieces it's impossible to be 100% certain. Hammer nearly always signed his work and it could be that this one was an unsigned "second" or the mark was on the original clasp (see notes re condition)
Age: c1910
Size and weight: 15.57g 44cm 17.3"
Materials: Gilded silver, enamel, replacement brass clasp
Condition: Very good, looks to have been seldom worn with minimal wear to the gilding, however, there is one small area of blistering to one enamel piece - this looks to have happened in the manufacturing process rather than caused later but please make up your own mind. Its quite a busy and pretty piece and it's not a defect that leaps out at you. The clasp is a later base metal replacement and it's possible that the makers mark was on the original.
