Description: Nice old fob seal with initials hand carved, possibly CI, IC, CJ or JC
Age: c1840
Size and weight: 6.35g, base 1.5cm x 1.7cm, total height 2.5cm not including jump ring
Materials: Its impossible to know exactly how much gold is in these things without destroying them -m this one appears to be metal with a thick outer casing of 9ct gold. Amethyst intaglio.
Condition: A little of the metal showing through where the gold has worn, eg right at the top (see pics, nothing serious). Top jump ring is not soldered shut and is quite a thin one for the size of fob.
