Description: Quality, quality quality! Starting with the hand painted porcelain plaque (most likely Berlin) - a fabulously rendered work of art that you can wear. She's super pretty and showing just enough flesh to have been pretty risque at the time! Its a very skilled painting. The mount which holds it is also top drawer. Its high carat gold and the workmanship is exquisite. It also has a locket back, a loop at the top for safety chain or pendant fitting and (a nice little flourish) a loop at the bottom to attach another drop should you wish.
Age: c1890 Victorian
Size and weight: 29.4g so fairly hefty - it may sit in a cabinet its whole life but if worn would need to be on something substantial! 55mm wide, 44mm top to bottom. Consider that there is likely £250, $300 just in gold here!
Materials: Hand painted Porcelain plaque, high carat gold (not x-ray tested for fineness yet, to follow, lower carat gold pin), glass with silver banding around.
Condition: Excellent. The gold frame could be carefully dipped in metal polish to make it super shiny, we've left it as found. Rollover clasp functions well.
