Description: 100% Victorian Scottish pebble jewellery aesthetic but unusually set in gold, with a locket back and with almandine garnets rather than cairngorms. When Victoria and Albert purchased Balmoral in the 1850s they triggered an interest in all things Scottish and the result is what you see here! Very tactile, pleasing item of Scottish jewellery.
Age: c1860s
Size and weight: 3.5g, 3.5cm x 2.5cm
Materials: Gold (in 15ct range, TBC after X ray testing), almandine garnets (very nice colour), base metal pin, glass locket back.
Condition: Good antique condition, the original pin has been lost and has been crudely repaired - we took the decision to leave as is given that it works and the pin cannot be seen when worn. Its very dirty and would benefit from a clean (we tend to leave as we find as the patina can't be put back on once removed!) All settings good.
