1 of 1 Commission Hermes 18ct Gold & Silver Riding Boot Mystery Pendant!

Description: An intriguing little item made by Hermes, Paris. As far as we can see this is 1 of 1 and must have been made by Hermes as a commission for a private client - our research has turned up nothing and Hermes heritage department were difficult to pin down and not really interested in helping out it has to be said! It is such a classy item, the boot is modelled so perfectly as the classic Hermes riding boot and its wonderfully asymmetric right down to the slanted top holding the18ct gold shoe tree pendant. What is it for? We don't know! The top part (which allows it to act as a pendant) and the heel piece are made of solid 18ct gold, the top is removable and the heel slides to the side (please read below re condition). So it's obviously a container of some sort and perhaps was made to hold and discreetly dispense an illicit substance!? We really don't know, if you do, please tell us!

A note on price -  We confess, we are really guessing here! We're basing pricing of other Hermes small bijouterie type items, rarity, the inclusion of 18ct gold and of course the Hermes name. A plain silver bracelet (made in their thousands) can be £2-5000 or a vintage lipstick holder £5000 so who knows!? If you can show us another on sale or help educate us re the price then we'd be happy to discuss! 

Age: Contemporary, likely early 21st century or late 20th

Size and weight: 32.93g , 6cm tall, 3cm foot length 

Materials: 18ct gold, silver 

Condition: Very good, however, please note that the heel opening is not tight and swings open too easily so it wouldn't work as a container now, perhaps it's more of a cabinet piece / curio than something to be worn, equally it could probably be put right fairly easily, we really don't want to mess with it though so we're leaving that decision to the new owner. The silver has a nice surface patina which could be polished out to a new finish.
