Solid 18ct Gold Rope Twist 16.5" Chain 13.36g

Description: A good example of a very useful chain. Nice to find in 18ct, the vast majority are 9ct with the odd 14ct example.

Age: Early to mid 20th century - this type of chain is still made today and the design has been around for a long time so its hard to say exactly how old it is. The chain is not hallmarked which is usually a sign that its an older piece. The clasp has a 750 gold mark but may very well be later - you have to be careful as its very easy to take an unmarked 9ct gold chain and put an 18ct hallmarked clasp on and a lot of these shenanigans go on at auction! We've had this one X ray tested to make sure but when you pick it up you can feel straight away that its 18ct from the weight.
