Description: Very rare and desirable beads made by WMF (or Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik if you prefer!)

A metalworks company famed for their Art Nouveau wears, around 1926 they worked out how to create iridescent glass in the style of Loetz and Tiffany and started producing designs by a young designer named Karl Wiedmann, the resulting Myra Krystall range was crystal formulated with silver nitrate instead of lead. The silver gave the glass a fabulous lustre and a wonderful play of colour - a little like petrol in a puddle! They only made this range for around 10 years and few original examples (as here with original silver wire, bead spacers and clasp) survive.

Age: c1930 Art Deco

Size and weight: 27.8g, 16"

Materials: Iridescent glass, silver chain, spacers and clasp.

Condition: Excellent, we've been over every bead and can find no defects. Silver screw clasp functions well. All silver elements have an antique patina, this could be dipped to make very shiny but we don't recommend this.
